Best things to eat after your workout

Exercise is crucial to a healthy life. It’s only half the battle won when you go for your morning jog or pump up those irons. It’s also important to stay healthy by eating right and rejuvenating your body with key nutrients. If you can’t put on muscle or are too exhausted from your work routine, chances are you are not eating right.

It is important to have a mix of complex and simple carbohydrates so that the release of energy during is the workout is slow and steady. It is important to replenish all the water and nutrients lost during the workout. Consuming superfoods whose function is exceptional when compared to other foods may be consumed for best results.

Below is a list of things to eat after your workout:

Eggs

No points for guessing here! Eggs are one of the best sources of inexpensive protein and more than half of the protein is contained in the egg white itself. It comes at just 70 calories per piece but packs 6.3 grams of protein. It’s best to eat the egg cooked as it helps our body absorb twice as much as protein. Also, it is one of the few foods that contain Vitamin D naturally. So, make sure to eat at least one egg after your workout-raw, boiled or scrambled!

Sweet Potato

This one might be a surprise for a few. Post-workout, our body is in need of two nutrients- carbohydrates and proteins. Sweet Potato is an excellent source of carbohydrates. If your aim is to put on a little muscle, consume these foods within 15 minutes after your workout. If your aim is to lose weight, you can take your time and eat 45 minutes after your workout. Sweet Potato is loaded with Vitamin A and contains roughly 26 grams of carbohydrates. Since it contains a good amount of fibre, you are left feeling full and energetic.

Whey

This is not just for the iron pumpers; one scoop of whey protein contains as much protein as a whole chicken breast! Whey protein also gives your immune system a much-needed boost. This is a mixture of globular proteins that are obtained as a by-product of cheese production. You can now buy at Zigy.com.

Green Tea

Trusted by the Chinese since ancient times, Green tea is beneficial in more than one way. Not just a way to wake up in the morning, green tea has free-radicals fighting mechanism which will keep you young and glowing for a long time to come. It has several anti-inflammatory properties, and protection from deadly diseases. You can drink it warm or chilled and rejuvenate your body. You can easily order at an online medical store and save yourself a trip to the market.

Orange Juice

Orange juice when chilled feels like heaven after a strenuous workout. But, it doesn’t stop at a thirst quencher.  Not just a source of essential Vitamin C, orange juice is loaded with potassium and is better than any over-the-counter energy drinks.
